Volvo Trucks North America has introduced a completely new Volvo VNL model that includes visual, safety and productivity details that will redefine industry standards for heavy-duty trucks in the future.
Not Just Another Pretty Truck
The Volvo VNL look may be great visually, but it serves a stronger purpose. The VNL features striking new aerodynamics and is engineered for improved fuel efficiency as well as considerable emission and CO2 reductions. Some of the new design elements such as the wedge-shaped cab and reshaped windshield, as well as optimized chassis fairings, reduced cab-to-trailer gap, tighter wheel openings and the all new bumper and hood lines are part of the new aerodynamic style that is making its mark on fuel efficiency. The powertrain offers the latest D13 engine, and when paired with the I-Shift transmission, is set to deliver unparalleled fuel and CO2 savings.
Innovative Safety Features
Making safety a priority is nothing new for Volvo Trucks. The new Volvo VNL continues with that safety focus, and goes beyond industry standards with a number of advanced safety features. The VNL models will use Volvo Dynamic Steering to power the Active Driver Assist Plus with Pilot Assist to enhance maneuverability, stability and road/hazard responsiveness. The trucks also have an automatic emergency braking system when pedestrians and cyclists are detected directly in front of the truck.
For drivers, the new VNL cab offers side-curtain airbags with options for driver only or driver and passenger. This is an industry first. There is also E-Call, which automatically connects drivers via cellular systems to emergency services and provides precise location details in the event of an accident.
Maximize Uptime, Efficiency and Driver Retention
The Volvo VNL benefits from its integration to Volvo Connect, a fleet management portal that centralizes all digital services on a single platform. By using either Bergey’s proprietary Fleet RPM program or opting for the Volvo Blue Service Contract, you can maximize uptime using real-time data. The drivers can easily access the new Volvo MyTruck app to see estimated fuel and DEF levels, coolant levels as well as notifications on potential malfunction issues. With MyTruck, you can also manage cabin climate control remotely. This is just one of the new driver-focused amenities. Volvo understands the importance of driver retention, so keeping them connected and comfortable ultimately means more productvity and safety. Options such as folding bunks for easy dinette access, streamlined control panels, and the new Volvo Parking Cooler were developed with the driver top of mind. The Parking Cooler is the most efficient idle management tool, with noise and vibration elimination during rest and non-drive times. When driving, the Global Rear Air Suspension system offers superior ride quality, stability and handling.
The all-new Volvo VNL is being built in a new state-of-the-art cab plant in Dublin Virginia. This new truck brings more than just its new features and benefits. It brings you added value.
