2027 Emission changes

If you’re not already thinking about the new emission changes, you will be. It will have an effect on how you plan to replace or add vehicles between now and early 2026 when the 2027 model year equipment is set to hit the market. If you were around for previous regulatory changes, you know the pre-buy frenzy is about to begin. Availability of equipment, managing higher costs and the unknown aspect of new technology performance are top of mind when it comes to the new 2027 engines. Read more about it in our 2027 EPA Diesel Emissions Blog.

Connected Fleet Technology

Greater investment and utilization of connected fleet technologies gives you a better understanding of everything about the vehicle and the driver. It allows you to have a more proactive approach instead of continually being reactive to issues that catch you off guard. At Bergey’s Truck Centers, we have a team of connectivity specialist using state-of-the-art tools and diagnostics to help you  manage your fleet.  Learn more about Fleet RPM

technician training

Technician training

Even without the new emissions technology coming, keeping technicians up on all the latest technologicial advancements of today’s commercial trucks can be a challenge. If your operation has it’s own tech team, keeping them properly trained is key to keeping your fleet on the road. Dealerships like Bergey’s Truck Centers have certified technicians trained by the OEMs. We can help support or supplement your team with outsourced maintenance services and we are certified for warranty work. Talk to our service experts about our own training so when your equipment comes into a Bergey’s shop, you can be confident it will be maintained to our own high standards.  You could also consider our Onsite Maintenance program, where we take over management of your existing shop, including your employees, to let you focus on your business.

safety first

SAfety

As it should, safety is always top of mind for any business. Even moreso when your business includes 26,000 pounds and more moving down the road. Instilling a safety culture is everyone’s job. Today’s fleet managers should be monitoring and rewarding safe driving practices for drivers, shop safety for technicians and ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest safety standards.

fuel efficiency

fuel management

While costs for fuel continue to fluctuate, some fleet managers are seeing some improvements in fuel management due in part to telematics and route optimization technology. Keeping track of usage and waste is a good start. Be sure to watch idle times, fuel system maintenance or malfunctions and even driver behaviors.

Zero Emission – Electrification

This may be a “back burner” future plan at best for many fleet managers, but it’s right around the corner for New Jersey fleets. The state of NJ will be enacting the Advanced Clean Truck (ACT) regulation as part of the CARB initiative which is set to go live January 1, 2025. Whether you’re in NJ or not, talk to our electric mobility experts. We have EVs that are perfect assets as port haulers, refuse trucks, beverage distribution and food/grocery distribution – essentially any business that has pickup and delivery hauling or multi-stop route based operations.

roadmap for success

Staying on top of evolving trends is crucial for today’s fleet manager. Those who are open to adopting some of the new technology available will see improvements in some key fleet performance areas.
